The principal square of the old town is the picturesque Place Rossetti. Completely enclosed by buildings, the square is home to the Cathédrale Saint-Réparate as well as a range of fine restaurants and ice-cream parlours. The square has an ambience that is more akin to a medieval village than a regional capital, and this is a trait that is common to the rest of the old town, whose irregular and winding streets are packed with shops and shoppers, intimate restaurants and bustling market places such as the Cours Saleya.
