Tourrettes sur Loup, medieval village or perched village (at the top of a hill!) is located just a few miles from Vence. In the summer its altitude a little over 400m can be very enjoyable giving a little bit of fresh air especially at night. It is very pleasant to walk around its ancient cobbled pedestrian streets and stroll to discover the views and access to the orientation table with 180° view, the artists’ studios, shops and small restaurants.
We do particularly recommend the “Cave à vin”, where it is possible during sunny days to have lunch on a balcony in the sun and enjoy panoramic views. We also recommend the Sansot when leaving the village in the direction of Bar sur Loup, which offers the best view on Tourrettes and tasty dishes beautifully presented.
The main square of Tourrettes sur Loup is transformed once a week into a market place where many local producers and artisans have their stall.
Early March is the “Fête de la Violette” where floats adorned with violets, and local children dressed accordingly, parade to celebrate a specific activity of Tourrettes sur Loup: the culture of the delicate little purple flower called Violette. You can also visit the small museum dedicated to this activity.
Tourrettes sur Loup is very popular with Northern Europeans, especially British and Scandinavians. Its beautiful greenery environment (many olive trees and citrus fruits), its lovely panoramic hills and sea views, and prices wiser than those on the coast make Tourrettes sur Loup undeniably attractive on the French Riviera.
Coast & Country is a real estate agency on the French Riviera that addresses to an international clientele and assists them in their search for paradise. We offer like this at the entrance of the village.
