The Barbossi Riviera Golf Course, as it is now known, is situated in Mandelieu-La Napoule on the French Riviera. The town also has another course; the “Old Course”, not to be confused with the more recent Riviera course. The Riviera Golf course is an 18-hole, par 72 course of a total length of 5,444m. Men’s & women’s handicap is 36. The course was designed by the American Robert Trent Jones Senior and opened in July 1991. It’s a quite narrow and technical course containing several difficulties, notably the approaches to certain greens, which are hard to negotiate. It’s also notable for its well-placed bunkers and frequent water obstacles, which together with the numerous lush pines creates a certain serenity. The Riviera course was acquired in March 2008 by the Barbossi Estate and has since been completely revamped with substantial investment being made to improve the facilities. There is a clubhouse with a high quality restaurant where a good meal can be enjoyed on the terraces overlooking the Esterel hills.
