Situated to the south of the hill on which the old villages of Opio and Chateauneuf de Grasse are built, the Grande Bastide golf course is rather unusual in comparison with other French Riviera courses in that it is situated in something of a bowl. It is an 18 hole, Par 72 course and 6105m long, designed in 1990 by Cabell Robinson, a disciple of Robert Trent Jones Senior, and who has designed many of the famous courses in Spain. The very open, easily walked course is set on a gently undulating site with open fairways and large bunkers, as well as 7 lakes. The length of the tees offers a challenge for the experienced Golfer and a pleasant course for those wishing to improve their game, but the water traps may put off the real beginners. There is a clubhouse with restaurant and changing rooms, putting green and practice facilities, as well as buggy hire. The course is open to the public and a round costs between 36 and 75€ in 2010
